Freeport man charged with a felony after allegedly stealing from Walmart

FREEPORT (WREX) — A Freeport man is in custody and charged with a felony for retail theft.

Javelle Bolden, 28, of Freeport, was taken into custody on Wednesday night in the 300 block of S. Adams Ave.

Police say Bolden was wanted on two outstanding felony arrest warrants for retail theft at the Freeport Walmart.

Authorities say Bolden refused the arrest and officers used pepper spray and a taser on Bolden.

Police say the first warrant against Bolden came from an incident at the Walmart last September. Bolden allegedly under-rang merchandise from the self-check out lane. Bolden rang in $4.04 worth of merchandise despite having $63.94 worth items.

The second incident occurred on Jan. 5 of this year.

Police say Bolden once again under-rang merchandise, ringing in a total of $17.12 while actually having $149.72 worth of items. Bolden also stole a soundbar, according to police.

Bolden was taken to the Stephenson County Jail.
