Police: Freeport man caught trying to steal from Walmart on separate occasions

FREEPORT (WREX) — A Freeport man is served with three arrest warrants after police say he stole from a Walmart once and tried to steal from the store two more times right before Christmas.

Michael Wilson, 61, was served with the arrest warrants on Monday.

Police say Wilson had three different arrest warrants out for stealing and trying to steal from the same Walmart on three different occasions.

A criminal complaint says on Dec. 18, police responded to the Walmart on Rt. 26 in Freeport for a retail theft. Police say Wilson stole a sound bar and two bottles of tequilla.

A second criminal complaint says on Dec. 21, authorities responded to the Walmart again. Police say Wilson entered the store again and attempted to steal a tablet.

A third criminal complaint says on Dec. 24, police responded to the same Walmart after Wilson tried to steal two separate sound bars.

The charges against Wilson were upgraded to a felony due to him having a prior conviction of retail theft.

Wilson was already in custody on other charges, according to police.
