BELVIDERE (WREX) — Belvidere North senior Madison Diercks has made big strides in her basketball game, and she'll continue to develop it at the college level. The Blue Thunder standout signed her National Letter of Intent to play at Regis University in Colorado, an NCAA Division II school.

"Definitely a lot of feelings, a lot of emotions going on right now," Diercks said after signing. "I'm really excited to play at Regis University for basketball. Seeing all my friends and everything they've said about me. It just really hits hard knowing I'm going to miss them so much and I'm not going to be with them the next four years of college."

Diercks has the Blue Thunder contending in the NIC-10. They're a game out of first place after losing to unbeaten Auburn earlier this week. Diercks helped North beat Boylan last week to put the Blue Thunder in a position to contend for the conference title as the season progresses.
