ROCKFORD (WREX) — Liz and Taylor Willard say they always knew they wanted to open a business when they got married six years ago.

"We just enjoy making stuff and we wanted to be able to make something we could give to our friends," says Taylor Willard.

That is what initially lead the pair to create Crosby Supply Co.; a candle business that has become a successful side hustle for the couple. Taylor says their love for Rockford was a key inspiration behind the development of the brand.

"Liz and I, both, we love Rockford. We love this town and we wanted it to reflect our town," says Taylor.

The design of the candles show Rockford's rich manufacturing history by using paint cans for the containers. Even the name of the business comes from the street the couple bought their first house on.

"Our first house we bought was on Crosby," says Liz Willard," and so it was very natural to be like, 'Crosby, that could go somewhere.'"

"We knew we would start a business together someday and that was just kind of our roots in Rockford, was on Crosby Street, so that's how Crosby Supply Co. started," adds Liz.

While their love for Rockford burns strong, so does their passion for making others smile.

"Our heart is just to be able to share with other people the fun stuff we make, the things we enjoy making," says Taylor.

The candles are available for purchase in person at London Avenue Designs in Rockford until December 21. They are also available online at the businesses website crosbysupply.co.
