ROSEMONT (WREX) - Part of an Illinois highway now has the name of an Illinois State Police Trooper killed in the line of duty earlier this year.
Trooper Christopher Lambert was honored at a ceremony Thursday at the Rosemont Theatre. Lambert was hit by a car on Interstate 294 while helping out with a three-car crash on Jan. 12. Now, a section of I-294 in Cook County is dedicated as, "Trooper Christopher Lambert Memorial Highway."
"This memorial highway dedication will ensure everyone remembers and no one ever forgets the sacrifice Chris and his loved ones made on Jan. 12, 2019," said Brendan Kelly, who is the Director the Illinois State Police. "He deserves much more and nothing less than that."
Lambert is survived by his wife and two daughters.
