Rockford’s Family Peace Center receives $20,000 donation from realtors, young professionals

ROCKFORD (WREX) — The future Family Peace Center in Rockford received a major donation Wednesday from Rockford Area Realtors' Young Professionals and Next Rockford.

Rockford Area Realtors donated $10,000 toward the Family Peace Center to establish a client computer lab. Next Rockford donated another $10,000, totaling $20,000 for the peace center.

The lab will be for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault to use while at the Peace Center for access to the internet and other services.

Young professionals in Rockford Area Realtors chooses a project each year to give back to the community. The groups held several public and private events, including celebrity bartender nights and the annual Realtor Water Battle, throughout the year to raise money for the center.

Rockford Mayor Tom McNamara and Family Peace Center Project Manager Sierra Kellen were presented the check at Rockford City Hall.

Next Rockford presents a check to the Family Peace Center at Rockford City Hall.
