Rockford school hosts Christmas party for homeless people

A group of Rockford students put on a party for Rockford's homeless.

Sixth graders for Rockford Christian hosted the party at Hope Fellowship Church where people could stock up on winter gear and get a meal.

The event is part of the school's annual "Live to Give" service project. Leaders at the school like Principal of Student Services Drew Popejoey say the event is to create a giving mindset in the students.

"For us, it's about teaching our kids to look around and look to people who are less fortunate and having an opportunity to show that they can do something," Popejoy said. You're never too young to do something nice for somebody else."

This is the 19th year that Rockford Christian has hosted the Christmas party.
