Home invasion victim restrains suspect until police arrive

ROCKFORD (WREX) — A home invasion suspect is in custody thanks in part to the victims.

Julius Roundtree, 37, of Rockford, was taken into custody following a home invasion in the 900 block of S. 5th St.

Rockford Police say a suspect, later identified as Roundtree, broke into a home which was occupied by several family members.

Police say Roundtree started beating up a 42-year-old victim before the victim, with the help of his 16-year-old son, were able to restrain Roundtree.

When officers arrived on scene, officers found Roundtree being restrained by the victim.

Roundtree was taken into custody without further incident.

The victim suffered minor injuries and declined medical attention, according to the police.
