Athlete of the Week – Anthony Munoz

ROCKFORD – Jefferson senior volleyball player Anthony Munoz is our WREX Athlete of the Week.

Munoz is a strong middle blocker for the J-Hawks, who consistently put a competitive boys volleyball team on the court every year. Anthony’s older brother Juan is a former WREX Athlete of the Week, and Anthony is keeping the volleyball train rolling.

“I feel like I learned something new everyday,” Anthony Munoz said. “It felt awesome to have someone that knew the game before I did. It was so helpful. I definitely owe my brother a lot.”

Anthony is carving his own path on the court as a leader for the J-Hawks.

“He’s one of the most seasoned middles in the conference,” Jefferson head coach Nicole Miller said. “He’s been playing for four years, participated in club. Technically, he’s very sound. His blocking technique is great, his readability, his volleyball IQ is very high.”

Munoz is an Athlete of the Week legacy, but he’s creating his own legacy with this group of J-Hawks.
