Rep. Adam Kinzinger Deployed to U.S. Mexico border

(WREX)- Congressman Adam Kinzinger, (R) IL-16, is heading to the U.S. Mexico border, but not as a congressman.

Rep. Kinzinger has been deployed through his Air National Guard Unit and will serve active duty as a Lieutenant Colonel.

In a statement today, his office says he was deployed earlier this week. Today, President Trump announced he was sending almost 4,000 more troops.

:The Congressman is humbled to serve his IL-16 community here in the People’s House and equally proud to serve as a reconnaissance pilot in the Air Guard. In both of these roles, Congressman Kinzinger fights to make our national security stronger, our border more secure, and our communities safer,” the statement read.

It goes on to say his offices will continue to serve the district and keep the congressman updated.
