Man walking cross-country makes stop in Cherry Valley

Walking across the country, it’s a journey few people ever accomplish. But this weekend, one man tackling the trek and found his feet right there in the Stateline.

"I picked U.S. 20 because it goes through a lot of places I’ve never been," Gary Cantrell said.

Cantrell started walking in Newport, Rhode Island back on May 10.

Almost 1,200 miles and 45 days later, Cantrell is making his way through Cherry Valley. And when we asked him why he’s walking Cantrell’s answer was simple.

"I like to go places and see people and find out about the geology and history and see how the different towns are, enjoying life, that’s what it’s about everyday," Cantrell said.

Cantrell hopes to finish his walk in early September.
